Win tickets to see Naomi Klein in Dublin - and triple your gift to support community energy

For the next 10 days every euro you give us will be tripled by an EU grant to support our work on community energy.

We had real success last year in getting the Government to recognize the role of communities in the transition to a zero-carbon energy system. The new national energy policy, the White Paper, launched in December is very strong on a commitment to energy citizens and communities.

Now we need to get the next Government to follow through with the concrete steps to make it happen.

Our priorities include:

• A guaranteed payment for solar electricity to unleash a "rooftop revolution" of solar panels on schools, community halls and sports clubs.
• More resources for organizations nationwide to support communities who want to develop their own energy projects, in the way the Tipperary Energy Agency does so well.
• An obligation on developers to enable communities to take a 20% ownership stake in renewable energy projects, as happens in Denmark.

We have a track record of delivery. But we need your help. Every ONE euro we raise from our supporters in the next 10 days will unlock THREE euro in EU funding that we will be able to draw down.

The author of No Logo, The Shock Doctrine and This Changes Everything: Capitalism Versus The Climate, Naomi Klein will be speaking in the RDS on Thursday 5th May as part of the International Literature Festival Dublin (formerly the Dublin Writers' Festival). The organizers have kindly given us three pairs of tickets to give away to our supporters.

Since we started our community energy work our supporters have donated €17,179 in matching funding which has enabled us to draw down €51,447 in EU grants over the last three years. There's another €25,000 on the table but we only have until April 14th to raise the matching funding.
