Learning Hub

Our Learning Hub was developed as part of our commitment to a process of learning and unlearning about the systems of power and oppression that influence our lives and the world around us. Our latest Learning Hub event was a webinar based on themes emerging from Reece Jones’ book ‘Violent Borders, Refugees and the Right to Move. You can watch the webinar back at this link. To read more about our Learning Hub click here.

We are organising a follow up workshop on climate and migration to take place over the coming weeks - watch out for an invite to register for this! We recently invited our Learning Hub participants to join us for Coalition 2030’s Just Recovery Conference on the 14th of July as the themes connected with our third book “On Fire: The Burning Case for a Green New Deal" by Naomi Klein. We’ll be holding a follow up workshop on the theme of Just Recovery and the Green New Deal during the summer.

We’ll also be running events based on themes from Rebecca Solnit's book "Hope in the Dark: Untold Histories, Wild Possibilities" so watch out for your chance to register for these exciting events!

Short Course and Handbook on Challenging Colonialism and Extractivism for Environmental Justice

We are developing a handbook for facilitators and learners about challenging colonialism and extractivism which will be made freely available when it is finished. In the autumn we plan to deliver a short course on the topic, aimed at participants who are active in environmental groups across Ireland. We envision this as the seeds of an informal network of activists, learners and educators eager to work on decolonising environmentalism in Ireland.

Active Hope

We ran a five week series of workshops on Resilient Movement Building and Active Hope with environmental and social justice activists in county Clare during May and June of this year. In designing this workshop series, we drew heavily from the work of Joanna Macy in the “Work that Reconnects”. We sought to make participants feel safe while expressing their grief and sadness for the world - while also gaining new perspectives to inspire a renewed sense of connection and energy to continue to act for their world.
