Tell supermarkets where to stick it! (very politely :-)

This week, we once again saw how sick of plastic the Irish public are, as we announced our “Shop and Drop” day of action taking place nationwide on April 21st. We had an amazing response in the media, including RTE TV, Newstalk Breakfast, Ireland AM, and The Irish Times, just to name a few.

It’s time for Irish retailers to help us turn the tide on plastic pollution, but we need your help to make that happen!

In just four weeks, on Saturday April 21st, we’re asking people to “Shop and Drop - shop as normal in your local supermarket and then take off the excess plastic packaging at the checkout and leave it in the shop.

We’ve already started contacting retailers across the country to ask for their support in facilitating this day of action and creating space in their premises to responsibly dispose of unwanted plastic packaging.

If you’re #SickofPlastic too, please consider volunteering with us on April 21st to hand out postcards and talk to shoppers outside your local supermarket and encourage people to hand in our postcards outlining six ways supermarkets can reduce unwanted plastic packaging.

You can express your interest and volunteer to help by filling out this form:

We want to get Irish retailers to play their part in tackling the plastic crisis but coordinating a nationwide day of action is no small feat. If you can chip in to support ours costs for design, materials, props, etc., your gift (big or small) would enhance this national event and make a significant impact in reducing unnecessary plastic waste across the country.

We look forward to seeing photos from your own #ShopAndDrop actions on April 21st!
