Sinn Féin Environment Spokesperson, Deputy Brian Stanley, asked Taoiseach Enda Kenny for clarification on the timeline for the publication of the heads of a climate change Bill. Extract from Dáil website here:Deputy Brian Stanley: We need to tackle the negative effects of climate change not just in the developing world, but also here in Ireland. What is the stage of preparation of the heads of the climate change Bill? When will it come before the House?The Taoiseach: The heads of the Bill have not been approved. I expect it will be 2013 before it is published.This assertion is at odds with the Roadmap for Climate Policy and Legislation as published by Minister Phil Hogan in January, which states that the development of the heads of a Climate Bill was to take place at the end of 2012. This is also contrary to what Minister Hogan said on the 13th and 28th of June: "As I indicated in the programme for climate policy and legislation, I will publish the heads of a Climate Bill in the fourth quarter of 2012."
