Have your say on Climate Action - Submit to the Government's Climate Consultation using our handy guide

The climate movement has been calling for greater public consultation on climate action for years. It's a crucial part of achieving climate action that's faster and fairer. 

So we're pleased that the Government has organised a public consultation on the Climate Action Plan. But we're also disappointed with how the consultation has been written. Many of the questions don’t address the scale of change needed to achieve the climate action we need. Nor do they address the need for a systems change approach to climate action -  that has climate justice and a just transition at its heart. 

We're worried that the Government's Climate Action Plan will have the same weaknesses, unless we speak up now!  If lots of us answer the consultation survey, we can raise these concerns in our submissions. We’ve identified questions in the consultation where you can do this - and given you pointers on what to write. Simply follow our “how to answer guide” to make a submission with an impact!

The consultation closes at 17.30 on Tuesday, 18th May, so we don’t have long to act. Can you make your submission today? You don’t need to be an expert. You don’t need to write long answers. Making a submission to state your support for ambitious, transformative climate action is the most important thing. And don’t forgot, you can use our guide to help you answer each question. The consultation’s official name is the Climate Conversation - Climate Action Plan 2021 and it can be accessed here. This should not be confused with a different consultation that groups and organisations can submit to - called the Call for Evidence.

The two minute submission option

Don't have time to answer all the questions? You don't have to - just answer as many as you have time for! And if you're really stuck for time, here's a 2 minute answering option. 
Go direct to the consultation here and add your details in the “About You” section. Then answer the first two questions in the “Taking Action on Climate Change” section - about how seriously you take climate change and how much action you want to see. Just answering these two questions adds to the pressure on Government to act!
