Growing Together, Time to Get Involved!

The Growing Together project has been working with a group of youth agri-activists (which includes farmers, horticulturists, students, policy geeks, rural and urban youth from Ireland and beyond) to raise awareness and share skills on regenerative agriculture in Ireland and Europe.

After some excellent planning meetings and skill shares in the latter part of 2019 - our agri-activists have awoken from winter hibernation and are ready for action!

The Growing Together team kicked off this year’s activities by collaborating with School Strikers and other activist groups to organise a Climate Hustings at the Mansion House in Dublin in the lead up to the General Election. The discussion was chaired by Eco Eye's Anja Murray and platformed election candidates including Green Party Leader Eamonn Ryan, Élis Ryan from the Workers Party, Sarah Durcan from Social Democrats and Eoin Ó Ceannabháin from People Before Profit.

Next stop for the Growing Together team is the Feeding Ourselves Conference in Cloughjordan. New Friends of the Earth staff member, Sian Cowman, will be co-facilitating a workshop on Food Soverignity. You can register for tickets here at the link.

Growing Together activists will also be heading to Brussels in April to meet with other young people and farmers from the Young Friends of the Earth Europe network and the youth articulation of La Via Campesina. And on April 17th they'll be participating in a week of actions and trainings and launching their statement: Food Sovereignty Now! by presenting it to policy makers at the European Union on the International Day of Peasants Rights.

There's big plans for trainings, workshops and events in the works for Spring/Summer 2020 so this is a great time to get involved.

But if you are a member of a group already working on sustainable agriculture in Ireland (overs 30s welcome!), you can join as a collaborator.
