Friends of the Earth Internship Programme 2008

The Opportunity
Friends of the Earth is recruiting two interns to participate in our third annual internship programme. The successful candidates will work as part of a small, multi-disciplinary team and on a range of areas including our climate change campaign, supporter relations and fundraising development. The interns will gain experience in the various skills and competencies required in a growing NGO, including organizing campaign actions, lobbying politicians, research for policy and advocacy, managing an interactive website, dealing with activists and supporters and exploring fundraising opportunities.

The Organization
Friends of the Earth is the Irish member of the world's largest network of environmental groups with over one million supporters and campaigners organized in 70 countries. Launched in Ireland in 2004, our priority campaign is on climate change. As well as our own Act for Climate campaign for a law to ensure action to reduce climate pollution, Friends of the Earth plays a leading role in the Stop Climate Chaos coalition which brings together environmental, overseas aid and faith groups to campaign for Ireland to do its fair share to prevent runaway climate change.

The Commitment
This post is for 20 hours a week for six months from January to June 2008. The allocation of weekly hours will be agreed between the Director and each intern. This internships are on a voluntary basis. However, there is a token allowance to cover out-of-pocket expenses.
