Thanks to your support, participation and hard work, your campaigning brought a climate law to the doors of the Dáil, a landmark breakthrough that few campaigns reach. Against the odds, your campaigning kept climate change on the political agenda when so much else was been washed away by the economic crisis. The unprecedented political events of the last six months caused that Bill to go unpassed but its publication means the new Government will not be starting from scratch and it is all down to you.Friends of the Earth Ireland and our colleagues in Northern Ireland are now hosting the Friends of the Earth Activism Gathering in June. It is our opportunity to take stock of the highs and lows of the last year and to help shape the future of grassroots environmental campaigning throughout the island. What happens next, depends on you.You will be asked to input your ideas about how your activism can shape Friends of the Earth's campaigns, and how we can support you to run your own campaigns in your local communities. Everyone attending will be encouraged to get active in campaigning, and will be offered support from Friends of the Earth staff in doing this. There will also be plenty of opportunity to network and socialise with other Friends of the Earth supporters and activists from all across Northern Ireland and the Republic including a pub quiz on Saturday night. We have also lined up some fantastic outdoor activities for those of you that would like to explore and enjoying the beautiful surroundings for Tollymore National Outdoor Centre. The full price for the weekend, food and accommodation, is only €60!
