Election Round-up: MEP hustings and ratings. Fracking the locals. And *that* Bill.

It's election time and there are a number of ways that you can have your say even before polling day on 23rd May.

Young Friends of the Earth are having a hustings with European Parliament candidates in Dublin on Thursday 15th May, at 7pm in The Greenhouse on Andrew Street, D2. More info here.

The Environmental Pillar is having euro-hustings in all three constituencies. In Carrick-on-Shannon this Thursday 8th, in Cork next Tuesday 13th and in Dublin on Friday 16th. You can register here.

Friends of the Earth Europe yesterday launched a great little gizmo where you can see how our current MEPS rate on climate change, fracking, GMOs and the arms trade. Campaigner, Fabian Flues, said "For many, the decision-making process in Brussels remains obscure, we're making it easier for people to find out how politicians voted on decisions that affect their future". It's part of a wider campaign against the capture of the EU institutions by corporate lobbying. Read more here.

It will only take a minute and this is the moment when politicians are most responsive to voters. You can see who's already signed on the new fracking page on our website. If you live in Dublin you're keen to get actively locally, Dublin Friends of the Earth are holding an open meeting at 7pm on Thursday 15th. They are campaigning on "cuts that don't hurt" - the huge potential for energy savings in public buildings. Here's a great article they had recently in the journal.ie. Finally, that Bill. The Government published their revised Climate Bill last month. Thanks to your support and campaigning and the work of all our allies in Stop Climate Chaos, it is better than their first draft last year. But it is still weaker than it needs to be. The Bill is due in the Dáil before the summer recess and as it makes its way to becoming law we'll be working hard to improve it, with your help.
