Research launch - Roma Communities and Climate Justice: Tackling Energy and Heat Poverty in Ireland

Cairde and Friends of the Earth are delighted to have the opportunity to invite you to the launch of our collaborative research project- Roma Communities and Climate Justice: Tackling Energy and Heat Poverty in Ireland.

Since 2023, Friends of the Earth and Cairde have partnered in delivering community education with Roma learners. A key focus of our work was to understand how Roma are experiencing heat and energy poverty, and their attitudes towards climate change. Elena Manciu, the Roma Climate Justice Peer Education Officer at Cairde, has led this research. Our vision is that this research serves to inform policy approaches to develop meaningful supports for the Roma community, ensuring that they are not left behind in the pursuit of climate resilient policies.

Din 2023, Friends of the Earth și Cairde au colaborat pentru a oferi educație comunitară elevilor romi. Un obiectiv cheie al activității noastre a fost cercetarea și surprinderea modului în care comunitățile de romi cu care lucrează Cairdre se confruntă cu sărăcia termică și energetică și atitudinile lor față de schimbările climatice. Elena Manciu, ofițerul de educație între egali ai romilor în justiția climatică la Cairde, a condus această cercetare. Viziunea noastră este că această cercetare servește la informarea abordărilor politice pentru a dezvolta suporturi semnificative pentru comunitatea de romi, asigurându-se că aceștia nu sunt lăsați în urmă în urmărirea unor politici rezistente la schimbările climatice
