Submit We are delighted to invite you to a follow-up online reading group inspired by the powerful themes explored during the From Despair into Action event held in November 2024, which you can read about in this blog post.Coincidentally on the same eve as the Irish general election, the event was a heartfelt exploration of the hope and possibility that I think many of us felt we needed on that day. With a fantastic line up of panelists from the head of the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability at Bethlehem University, Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh (who has now been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize), to healing justice facilitator Lelo Mary Thebe, and Irish rainforest rewilder and author Eoghan Daltun, we reflected on the role of storytelling in shaping our collective response to the climate crisis, discussed the importance of finding courage in community, and shared actionable ideas for transforming despair into meaningful change. The event was based on the themes of Not Too Late: Changing the Climate Story from Despair to Possibility by Rebecca Solnit and Thelma Young-Lutunatabua which some of you may have bought and read in anticipation of the panel discussion. Now, we’re continuing that conversation. Join us for a deeper dive into the book and the questions it raises.Whether you were part of the original event or are coming to Not Too Late for the first time, this reading group is a space for connection, reflection, and empowerment. We’ll discuss key chapters from the book, share personal insights, and support one another in building a story of possibility for ourselves and our communities. If you don’t yet have a copy of Not Too Late, you can receive one by making a donation to Friends of the Earth here.Funded through Irish Aid Categorised in: Friends of the Earth Climate Change Tagged with: Community Care education Learning Hub
